Reggae Fever and Various Events at EMU

The annual Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) 25th Spring Festival continues with great interest of the students and the society. Second day events began with Görkem Sofu’s stand-up show and talk which took place at the Social and Cultural Activities Directorate at 14:30 on Thursday, 19 May 2022. EMU Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu attended the event.

CrossFit Competition Held

At 16:00, a CrossFit Competition was held at the Parking Lot of the Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Complex. The winners of the competition received their awards from Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu and EMU Sports Affairs Directorate staff members. 

Festival Area

At 18:00, EMU Folk Dance Community made a performance on Stage 2 located in the festival area. EMU Music Club performed between 18:20 and 21:20. On the other hand, the applied workshop event titled “12th Art Meeting” of the EMU Fine Arts Club as well as “DNA Isolation” event of Genetics Club took place at 19:00 at club stands. 

Theater Performance

The theater show “Juliet and Romeo - A Marriage Intoxication” adapted from the book "Oh, Oh Juliet", written by Ephraim Kishon and translated into Turkish by Hale Kuntay, was held on Thursday evening, 19 May 2022, at 19:30 at Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center. Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Aktuğlu and Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu attended the event. Receiving great interest from the students and the society, the “Juliet and Romeo – A Marriage Intoxication” theater team was presented a plaque by Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu.  

19 May Songs from Erkan Dağlı

Within the scope of the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day Celebrations, Choir Conductor Erkan Dağlı made a music performance consisting of the 10th Anniversary Anthem, İzmir Anthem and 19 May Youth and Sports Day at 21:45. 

Reggae Fever by ASWAD 

At 22:00, world-famous reggae masters ASWAD, known for their songs such as "Shine" and "Don't Turn Around", took the stage. Members of the society and students showed great interest in the event. At the end of the concert, Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu presented a plaque and a bouquet to ASWAD.
