The U.K. based Times Higher Education (THE), the publisher of the world's widely referenced university rankings, announced the rankings of the world's best universities by subject on Wednesday, 28 October, 2020. Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) appeared in the 401-500 band in Business and Economics and 601-800 band in Engineering and Physical Sciences. EMU has become the only university from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to be included in these rankings.
In the ranking of Turkish universities in the field of Business and Economics, EMU has ranked 2nd after Bilkent University, outranking METU, Boğaziçi University and Istanbul Technical University. A total of 9 universities from Turkey appeared in the said list. As per the ranking of Turkish universities in the field of Engineering, EMU ranks 8th after Koç University, Bilkent University, Sabancı University, Boğaziçi University, Istanbul Technical University, Özyeğin University and Atatürk University. A total of 30 universities from Turkey appeared in the list in question. Outranking METU and Sabancı University in the ranking of Turkish universities in the field of Physical Sciences, EMU ranks 6th after Bilkent University, Koç University, Atatürk University, Atılım University and Boğaziçi University. A total of 28 universities from Turkey appeared in the said list.
