Eastern Mediterranean University’s 2021 – 2022 Academic Year Spring Semester Postgraduate Graduation Ceremony was held on Tuesday, 5 July, 2022, at 19:00, at the EMU Rector’s Office Poolside. At the ceremony, 293 master’s and 104 doctorate graduates received their diplomas. Present at the ceremony that was broadcast live worldwide via the social media accounts of EMU and EMU TV were EMU Board of Trustees President Dr. Erdal Özcenk, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, Rauf Denktaş University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Bıçak, EMU Board of Trustees Member Ersun Kutup, Vice Rectors, Institute for Graduate Studies and Research Director Prof. Dr. Ali Hakan Ulusoy and Assistant Directors, Members of the Senate, Faculty Members, graduates and their families.
The ceremony started with the entrance of the 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Semester Postgraduate Program Graduates to the ceremony area accompanied by music and applause. After a Moment of Silence and the National Anthem, a saxophone performance by the artist Tolga Ruhi provided the attendees with beautiful moments. After the music concert, artist Tolga Ruhi was presented with flowers by EMU Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz Iscioglu. Then, EMU Faculty of Law and Bologna University's joint program, Comparative Law Postgraduate Program graduate Feza Kılgın and EMU Engineering Faculty Mechanical Engineering Doctorate Program graduate Mohammad Karimzadeh Kolamroudi delivered speeches on behalf of master’s and doctoral graduates, respectively.
“I wish you every success in your new chapter of life”
Speaking at the ceremony, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın thanked the EMU staff who contributed to the successful organization of the ceremony. Stating that EMU gave 293 master’s graduates from 29 different countries and 104 doctoral graduates from 14 different countries in the 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Semester, Prof. Dr. Hocanın said that these figures are an indication of the contribution that EMU's international graduates will make to the world with the quality education they received here in EMU. Underlining that EMU's education quality is certified by its programs accredited by the world's leading accreditation institutions and by international independent university ranking organisations, also noted that the citations from scientific articles published at the university have come to the fore in the rise in these rankings. Prof. Dr. Hocanın added that EMU continues to work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals determined by the United Nations. Advicing the graduates to plan their future by being aware of their values and priorities, Prof. Dr. Hocanın also emphasized the importance of determining how they would contribute to their society and country. Extending his congratulations to the families who contributed to the success of the graduates, Prof. Dr. Hocanın wished the graduates success in their future lives.
“You will always brighten the path of science”
President of EMU Board of Trustees Dr. Erdal Özcenk congratulated the graduates who contributed to science with their master's and doctoral studies, stating that they have gained the right to graduate from a very good university. Stating that EMU is the most rooted institution in the field of higher education in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), which is an island of science, Dr. Özcenk added that the university offers education and research opportunities at international standards. Noting that the graduates have also become a part of EMU during their studies and research process here, Dr. Özcenk stated that they have no doubts that wherever they are in the world, they will proudly carry the torch of science lit at EMU every year. Dr. Özcenk went on to state that like thousands of students who graduated from EMU's graduate programs, this year’s graduates will always illuminate the path of science, too. Expressing that he shares the pride of the families who supported the graduates in this process, Dr. Özcenk wished all graduates success in their lives.
The 2021 – 2022 Academic Year Spring Semester Postgraduate Graduation Ceremony continued with the presentation of diplomas to doctorate program graduates by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın and presentation of plaques of appreciation to thesis supervisors and co-supervisors by EMU Board of Trustees President Dr. Erdal Özcenk. Following the presentation of Master’s diplomas to graduates by EMU Institute for Graduate Studies and Research Director Prof. Dr. Ali Hakan Ulusoy and Assistant Directors Prof. Dr. Kağan Günçe and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Rizaner, the ceremony continued with the countdown to cap tossing by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın and graduates throwing caps with great joy.
