EMU Continues to Grow by Launching New Programs

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) continues to grow by launching new programs that are to start student admission in 2019 – 2020 Academic Year Fall Semester. Higher Education Planning, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) and Turkish Republic Council of Higher Education (YÖK) approved programs will start student admissions in the upcoming academic semester. The newly launched programs are as follows; Biomedical Engineering providing training under Faculty of Engineering, New Media and Journalism Undergraduate Program under Faculty of Communication, Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Associate Program under the School of Health Services and, Pastry and Bakery Associate Program under the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Program (English)

Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Program is a 4-year long multidisciplinary program utilizing the application of engineering principles to the fields of biology and health services. Tho program’s goal is to procure world-class graduates to meet the 21st century needs of biomedical-related industries focused on patient care via medical devices and pharmaceuticals, as well as government and private consulting practice – all founded on a strong science and engineering education. 

New Media and Journalism Undergraduate Program (Turkish – English)

New Media and Journalism Undergraduate Program involves a training of 4-years. The main aim of the program is to educate its students, the future journalists, to be individuals who own the professional ethic values, are endowed with the sense of social responsibility, are advocates for freedom of press and expression, have the skills necessary to analyze social, economic, cultural and political issues and, have qualified knowledge.

Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Associate Program (Turkish)

Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Associate Program is a 2-year long program. One of the aims of the program is to raise competent prosthetics and orthotics technicians who are to develop prosthesis for individuals who had lost any limbs of their bodies as a result of various reasons. Another aim is to help students become technicians who are have required skills to design, produce and apply in the manner of prosthetics and orthotics and, who contribute to the clinical decision-making process in the orthosis application in pathologies concerning musculoskeletal and neural systems with various characteristics such as reducing the pain, enhancing the function, being resilient aesthetic and functional with corrective and supportive purposes.

Pastry and Bakery Associate Program (Turkish)

During the two-year education, the Pastry and Bakery Associate Degree Program provides students with the opportunity to pursue a career in various fields from classic to modern pastry and artisan bread making, as well as the new trends in the world of pastry and bakery. The program, which is a first in our country, prepares students for the sector with a wide range of courses in addition to basic pastry and bakery courses in accordance with international standards as well as elective courses.
