Students of EMU Engineering Faculty Participate in IEEEXTREME 24-Hour Programming Competition

Three software groups formed by the students of Eastern Mediterranean University Engineering Faculty, Computer Engineering Program, Software Engineering Program, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department's Information Systems Program and Electrical and Electronic Engineering Program participated in an international programming competition entitled "IEEEXtreme 9.0".

During the said competition which took place at Computer Engineering Department, participating students solved questions within 24 hours under the supervision of an academic staff member who is a member of IEEE.

Yusuf Küçükkaya, Müslüm Öncel and Serhat Perkmen as members of the group "EmuNullPointer", Abdulrahman Zurghani, Sagdat Kozhakhmetov and Mahdy Nasr from group "Hexa" and Yusuf Topal, Mustafa Murat Yatgın ve Mustafa Güler from group "HelloFamagusta" participated in the competition. Students who took part in the said competition with the support of academic staff members Assist. Prof. Dr. Adnan Acan, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ünveren and Prof. Dr. Hasan Demirel stated that that they had a tiring competition process but that they are extremely pleased to represent EMU and the TRNC at the international platform.

IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members advised and proctored by an IEEE member and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. The competition is organised annually and participated by 1500-1700 groups.
