Published Date: Tuesday, 9 August 2016

In the standings released by Nature Index, the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) ranked third amongst Turkish universities regarding fundamental sciences. Top-tier articles published by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Halilsoy, Head of the Department of Physics and Chemistry and academician Dr. Habib Mazharimousavi played a big part in this success.

Nature Index is a data reference system that that carries out evaluation in the field of fundamental sciences by evaluating researchers, the institution they work for and all of the academic research that has been carried out in the country they are located in. It includes 68 of the highest quality journals and uses parameters such as Article Count (AC), Fractional Count (FC) and Weighted Fractional Count (WFC). If an institution receives academic support from an outside institution or individual, this negatively affects the parameters of the institution.

As well as ranking third in Turkey, EMU was ranked tenth out of twenty five universities/ institutions in the Middle East as well as Eastern and Western Asia.
