Eastern Mediterranean University completed the Turkish Standards Institute’s (TSI) “OHSAS18001 Labor Health and Security” audit. Having successfully undergone the audit of ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management System and ISO 1002-2014 Student Satisfaction Management System since 2015 and successfully certified accordingly, EMU is now pursuing quality assurance in the field of Occupational Health and Security. The closing meeting of the aforesaid inspections which finished on 20 December 2018 was held at EMU Rector’s Office Senate Meeting Room. Attended by Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova, Vice Rector for Administrative and Technical Affairs Prof. Dr. Naciye Doratlı, TSI Cyprus Personnel and System Certification Director Ahmet Kemal Kızıltan and EMU Total Quality Management Center Director Hasan Kavaz, the meeting also hosted the representatives of EMU Quality Units.
“EMU Will Be the First”
Delivering the opening speech of the meeting, TSI Cyprus Personnel and System Certification Director Ahmet Kemal Kızıltan stated that they have been continuing their joint journey with EMU for quality and student satisfaction for three years and now they have added occupational health and security dimension into the journey. Kızıltan added “Firstly, I would like to thank EMU personnel who embraced the audit as much as we do. I have delivered my positive views to Ankara Main Branch. Most probably, EMU will be the first university to receive the Labor Health and Security certificate at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). In his speech, Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova stated that “As EMU, we have the responsibility to set an example for new universities in our country both academically and administratively. Instead of saying that we are the best all the time, we need to ask ourselves what we can do to achieve even better. As a part of EMU, the only university that fully complies with the law, I would like to thank everyone for supporting the process.” The meeting ended after a group photo.
