International Success from an EMU Graduate

Eastern Mediterranean University Electrical and Electronics Engineering 1989 graduate Şahin Ali Gökçelik is successfully performing administrative duties as the Category Supply Chain Director at "Unilever". Following his graduation from EMU, Gökçelik completed his postgraduate studies at Istanbul University and has been working at Unilever for the past 24 years.

Stating that he chose EMU upon a friend's recommendation, Gökçelik put forth EMU's high standard qualities such as instruction in English, multicultural structure, and developed infrastructure. Gökçelik added that along with academic development, social and individual development plays an important part in the formation of an individual's vision and mission.

Gökçelik added that the reason for him choosing Unilever was the value the company demonstrates towards humans, consumers and environment as well as sustainable life. Stating that Unilever has an impressive vision and mission, Gökçelik put forth that Unilever aims to produce products which will make people feel happier and better.

Gökçelik also talked about the role of hobbies in a person's spiritual and physical development and renewal process. Gökçelik was formerly a licensed basketball player in Gazimağusa Türk Gücü Club. Gökçelik is also a referee in the International Dog Competition.

Gökçelik, who started his professional life in Unilever Çorlu food factory as a technical manager candidate, later worked in Adana margarine factory as technical department and project manager, Algida's supply chain executive board member, Unilever Philippines' supply chain assistant manager and Unilever Switzerland's supply director. Currently, Gökçelik works as a category supply chain director in Unilever NAMET-RUB (North Africa, Middle East, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus).
