Annually organized at the beginning of each academic semester by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Social and Cultural Activities Directorate for the new students joining the EMU family with the intention of supporting their adaptation period, the 28th EMU Orientation Days are commencing.
“Help Desks to be set up”
EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu noted that students will get the opportunity to obtain information regarding the social, cultural and academic life at the university, during the orientation days to be held on 19 August – 30 September 2025. Students will easily access such information from the help desks to be set up on various locations within EMU campus. Prof. Dr. Zorlu underscored that, through the EMU 28th Orientation Days, they aim to facilitate the adaptation process of the newly registered students, providing them with a smooth start for the 2025-2026 Academic Year Fall Semester.
Prof. Dr. Zorlu noted that, under the communication sponsorship of North Cyprus Turkcell (KKTCELL) and with the support of Municipality of Famagusta, Orientation Days will feature a wide range of activities—from informative online seminars and fun social events to workshops, as well as city and campus tours. Prof. Dr. Zorlu also stated that newly enrolled students will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to the campus, with all preparations completed to ensure a smooth and effective adaptation process.
Online and Face-to-Face Events
As part of the 28th Orientation Days, various seminars and events will be held online and face-to-face. All the online sessions will be delivered via Microsoft Teams. The events to be delivered within the scope of the orientation days include sessions such as; “Preparing for Undergraduate Education a EMU”, “Preparing for Postgraduate Education at EMU”, “Health and Psychological Support in North Cyprus”, “Banking and Budgeting in Cyprus”, “Residence Permit & Student Visa Guide”, “Job, Internship and Volunteering Opportunities”, “Safety and Support in Famagusta”, “Welcome to EMU”, “Urban Life” and “Adapting to Cultural Change”.
On 20 and 27 August 2025, online informative sessions will be held for families, providing insights on topics like accommodation, safety, health and life.
Between 11 & 17 September 2025, EMU-2 Dormitory will host cinema screenings, karaoke, game nights, and recreational activities, offering students enjoyable moments to build new friendships and settle into university life more easily. Furthermore, from 15–19 September, 2025, the ‘Comedy & Culture Shock2 performance will take place at the same dormitory.
Furthermore, regular bus services between EMU-2 Dormitory and EMU Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School will be offered on 9-11-12 September 2025 for students who will attend the English Proficiency Exam.
Famagusta City Tour
Between 15 & 20 September 2025, Famagusta city tours will be held to introduce the new students the city. Tour buses will leave from the Activity Center building.
A Close Look into EMU through the Campus Tour
A tour of the campus will be carried out on 18 September 2025 starting at 10:00 a.m. The tour which will begin from the Activity Center will make stops at Özay Oral Library, Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Comlex, Health Center, EMU Beach Club and Faculties.
Welcoming Night for New Students
A ‘Welcoming Night’ event will be organized on 26 September 2025 at 06:00 p.m. at EMU Beach Club facilities. Administrative units, faculties and schools, student clubs and international student societies will set booths, offering information for the new students of the university. The event also feature a DJ performance and various fun programs.
